Panevezys júní 2019
Dagana 23. – 26. júní (2019) fóru tveir fulltrúar félagsins til Panevezys í Litháen á fund um samstarfs-verkefni sem nú er að hefjast. Verkefnið verður til tveggja ára og nefnist á ensku „Freedom of my choice“ en það mætti þýða sem Frelsi til að velja.Það er fjármagnað með styrkjum frá Nord+ sem er á vegum Norrænu ráðherranefndarinnar. Samstarfsaðilar eru auk Litháanna, frá Eistlandi, Lettlandi og Svíþjóð.
Í verkefninu felst að hvert land skipar 6 manna hóp. Í honum eru 4 úr hópi fatlaðs fólks og 2 aðstoðarmenn. Markmiðið er að hver þátttakandi úr hópi þeirra fyrrnefndu velji sér eitt réttindamál til nánari umfjöllunar og útbúi kynningu á því. Þessir aðilar fá æfingu í að kynna sitt efni fyrir fulltrúum samskonar hópa frá hinum þjóðunum. Í lok verkefnis hafa þeir öðlast þekkingu og færni til að kynna efnið sitt og koma því á framfæri enn víðar.

“Partnering for a freedom of choice”
As styrktarfelag has entered into a two-year partnership with Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Sweden on a project called “Freedom of my choice”. The project is funded by Nord +, a part of the Nordic council of ministers.
The idea originates from people with disabilities (PWD) in Lithuania. The project will focus on human rights issues, with each country nominating a team of six people, four of them with disabilities. Each group will focus on a human rights issue of their choice and will work together on innovative ways to present their specific issue in an easy to read and easy to understand format.
A kick-off meeting for the project was held on 24-25th of June in Panevezys, Lithuania with two representatives from As styrktarfelag in attendance.
